Well, the false and half-true spam emails are starting again… (sigh)

Aside Posted on Updated on

I see that the false and half-true emails are starting again and they are using an email that was supposedly sent out by a Realtor®.  I doubt that an actual Realtor® would have sent out these spams so he/she is using the Realtor® trademark name to lend a air of “authority” to an email that is obviously false or half-true.  So here again, is someone wanting to stir up emotions about the 3.8% tax in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  The best advice I can give you is this… if you have substantial income and/or investments that might fall into the categories mentioned in the Act, you should consult with a tax accountant regarding your tax liability under the program.  The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) has put together some information regarding the tax which will provide some insight into this issue.

I’ve included a link to a brochure published by the NAR that gives several very good examples of the tax.

I have included a video published by NAR also.

A word of advice about these spam emails, regardless of the subject,  please check them out on Snopes to see if they are true or not.  And if Snopes doesn’t have any information, it doesn’t mean that it is true either.  My suggestion is to not forward these spam emails at all.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
